Opening in December 1995, Islington Pizza and Sub Shop is a prime location for food lovers who enjoy pizza, subs, and, of course, a family-friendly atmosphere.
"It's a family ownership," Owner Maria Tassiopoulos said. "And that's not just it. There is a low employee turnover, with some guys working here for several years. It is very family friendly - there's even a playground right behind us."
The restaurant's location on Washington St. in Islington is ideal for anyone passing through town and looking for a quick bite to eat, but also for those who love a once-a-week specialtiy of buffalo chicken pizza, a mixed green salad, or a BLT.
One Westwood Patch reader also rated it among their favorite restaurants in Westwood back in January. The dining area inside the shop is quite large, and is surrounded by large windows, through which patrons can enjoy the scenery of Downtown Islington. Items on the menu include not only pizza and subs, but also pasta, calzones, and more.

Every Friday in our house it is pizza night. We have been doing this for as long as I can remember. When we lived in Norwood we always got our pizza from Islington pizza. It is consistently good and we love the crust. When we moved to Canton we started looking for pizza closer to home. We have found some good pizza shops in Canton. However, we still come back to Islington for their pizza at least once if not twice a month. Well worth the trip.
