Dispose of Christmas Trees Properly

State fire marshal says trees have been involved in fires.

State Fire Marshal Stephen Coan recently urged community members to dispose of their Christmas trees properly.

Christmas trees kept too long after the holiday have been involved in fires, including one at a Lunenberg condominium last Jan. 9, Coan said in a press release.

The Norwood Department of Public Works will be picking up Christmas trees on the same day as your regular trash pickup this week and next.

The DPW asks that before disposing of your tree you please remove all tree bags, tinsel, lights and ornaments.

Wreaths can not be disposed of the same as trees as the wire frame damages the chipping equipment.
