The Norwood Public Library always enjoys putting on events for children.  But they really wanted to find something that would get both parents and children involved.

"Kelly thought it would be a great idea to bring in a drum circle to the library," Jane Bradley, a librarian, said about her colleague that booked the event. "And I believe that the children really enjoyed it."

Otha Day is the instructor of the "Drum to the Beat" program. He teaches in schools, libraries and even medical facilities.

"Not a lot of people know this, but drumming has a very therapeutic aspect to it," he said.

And when it comes to teaching children, he is happy when parents are involved. During the event he spoke about how it's easy for children to get involved in drumming because they already have that "child spirit."

"I do this more for parents, to help them find their inner child," he said.

Jane Bradley was happy to see that the parents also enjoyed themselves during the event.

"I spoke with one of the mothers and she was very impressed by the program," she said. "She felt that they got a great deal out of it."
