A 26-year-old Waltham man was arrested by Norwood Police Wednesday night for allegedly dealing in multiple drug types.
At 6:25 p.m., officers investigating a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of the Rama Plaza on Washington St. arrested Cesar Ortiz, 26, of Waltham, on charges of possession with intent to distribute a class A substance (Heroin), possession with intent to distribute a class B substance (Cocaine), possession with intent to distribute a class B substance (Crack), three counts of drug violation near a school or park, furnishing a false name, and possession of a false registry document.
Ortiz also had two outstanding warrants.
Police spokesman Kevin Grasso said in a press release that Detective Sergeant Robert Rinn and Patrolman Anthony Lopes were on surveillance in the area of the plaza because of past incidents of drug activity.
"While conducting the surveillance officers observed a meeting between the defendant and another subject," Grasso said. "When approached both subjects denied that any drug transaction occurred. Based on the officers' observations and action of the subjects a Police K-9 was requested to the scene."
With the help of a K-9 unit from Franklin officers located and retrieved drugs from a hidden compartment in the vehicle.
Ortiz was scheduled to be arraigned in Dedham District Court this morning.
