Route 1 southbound has been cleared from a multi-car crash that occurred at about 11:15 a.m. Tuesday.

Traffic was rerouted for about an hour as crews cleared the scene.

ORIGINAL REPORT:

The Norwood Police Department is reporting a multi-car crash being worked by Norwood Police and Fire on Route 1 Southbound at Everett St. and University Ave.

Police are asking drivers to avoid the area if at all possible. Southbound traffic is being rerouted.

One operator fled the scene but was apprehended and arrested a short time later.
