Norwood High School Drama participated in the preliminary round of the 81st Annual Massachusetts High School Drama Festival 2012 this weekend, according to the Massachusetts Educational Theater Guild's website.
The students performed "The Suicide" - a 1928 play by the Russian playwright Nikolai Erdman.
The Sharon High School Theatre Company advanced to semi-finals with its performance of "The Cripple of Inishmaan." Mansfield and Winthrop also advanced from the group of seven schools that performed in Sharon on Saturday. The Sharon High auditorium was among 14 host sites statewide for Saturday's 2012 prelims, which include 114 schools.
Mansfield performed "The Complete Works of William Shakespeare Abridged (Act II)." Winthrop performed "Charlie Foster."
Also, Ludlow performed "Adonais." Randolph performed "4 AM." And Middleboro performed "Knights of the Square Table."
The state finals are March 22 to March 24. The New England Festival is April 26 to April 28, according to the theater guild's website.
