Norwood Resident Receives National Award

The Healthcare Training Institute led by Norwood resident Carol Grady was recently honored with the Exemplary Partnership Award from the National Fund for Workforce Solutions.   

The National Fund is an initiative involving over 400 national and local funders whose goal is the career advancement of low-wage workers. Since 2007, this effort has invested over $160 million to organize employers, create workforce partnerships, and advocate for policies and practices that make businesses more competitive and workers more likely to earn family-sustaining wages.

The National Fund gives annual awards to highlight best practices and outstanding achievements. The 2012 Award for Exemplary Workforce Partnership went to the Healthcare Training Institute, operated by JVS and funded through SkillWorks: Partners for a Productive Workforce. JVS has been providing job training and education services to people with barriers to employment for over 70 years. 

As Vice President of Partnerships for Careers and Learning, Ms. Grady works with employers to design effective training programs that build career pathways and help companies stay competitive. 

The Healthcare Training Institute has served 386 participants with 73 receiving credentials and degrees and over 200 participants receiving wage increases.

Employer partners include Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Children’s Hospital Boston, Dana Farber Cancer Center, Harvard Medical School, and Joslin Diabetes Center.
