Road Closing Information for Norwood 4th of July Celebrations

Parades, processions and a road race will most likely cause traffic delays tomorrow around town.

The Norwood Fourth of July Parade Spectacular will begin at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, with other festivities planned throughout the day. Here's what you need to know about road closings and traffic delays from the Norwood Police Department:

The Parade starts at Coakley Middle School and ends at Shaw's Plaza on Nahatan Street. Washington Street and Nahatan Street will be closed for all traffic. Some roads that intersect with these two streets will also be closed by barricades or uniformed officers.

It is expected that these two roads will be closed at 4:15 p.m. They will remain closed until the parade has safely passed. At 5:00 the Firecracker Road Race will start and finish at the Town Common. At 5:30 the fire truck and motorcycle procession starts, then at 5:45 the parade gets underway.

There is also a Doll Carriage Parade at 1:00 p.m. Police will be shutting Winter Street at Bullard and Walpole streets. The Doll Carriage parade will start at Winter/Bullard and turn left on Walpole Street, onto Washington Street and ending on the Town Common.

Police do not know how long the parade will take so motorists can expect delays in these areas.
