Rogers' Poll Shows Norwood Voters Concerned With Economy

Rep. John Rogers' recently released the results of his 2012 voter opinion poll.

Representative John Rogers (D-Norwood) recently released the results of a 2012 opinion poll distributed to voters during the Norwood Town Election in April.

Of "hundreds" of polls handed out, according to Rogers' office, over 500 were returned. Rogers said in the accompanying letter that he was "encouraged" by the large response.

The poll asked for voter opinion on several legislative issues, including the proposed soft drink and candy tax, the Right to Repair act, and assisted suicide, among others.

Voters were also asked to rank six issues in order of importance: Jobs and the economy, education, health care, environment, public safety and tax relief. The majority of respondents ranked jobs and the economy first, education second.

See the attached document for the full results of the poll.

How will you be voting on these issues? Tell us in the comments.

Thanks for the opportunity to comment on these issues. I agree with the majority opinion expressed in the poll. I voted with the majority on the issues with education being my number one concern. I'm glad there are so many like minded people in town.

I'm glad Rep. Rogers did this poll. It was good to see him at the Civic on election day. I like how John is always reaching out to people in Norwood for their opinions, and he has done this poll for a while now. What I like about it is that it is not just a stupid PR stunt or an excuse to glad-hand, John follows up on the polls results, informs his constituents and uses the data as a factor in voting, that is what a real representative does, listen to his constituents.

Why doesn't he publish the results of the push poll he did a month ago by phone, you know the one where the questions are like, 'do you have a favorable opinion of Mr. Rogers', 'do you know the name Jim Stanton', etc. These are the interesting polls that always emerge when Mr. Rogers is on the hot seat

Shouln't a representative of the people be more closely attuned on a daly basis with those he represents than relying on an impersonal survey poll?

Mr. Rogers, I took your poll and thanks for doing it. You have always served Norwood so well and I appreciate that you care where I stand on these issues. You have my vote. The guy from Walpole is always saying he only cares about Walpole anyway.

I agree with the poll findings except where the majority of you oppose a candy tax. I would favor that tax if the revenues from it went to public health programs.

btw...it's easy to find the results of the poll. just click on the picture of it at the bottom of the story.
