Suspect Charged in Armed Robbery at Norwood Convenient Store

Norwood Police have arrested and charged a suspect in the knife-point robbery that took place in Norwood Center last Thursday.

 

Norwood Police have arrested a suspect in the armed robbery that took place in Norwood Center last Thursday.

According to a Norwood Police statement, Joshua Johnson, 26, of 196 Fairmount Avenue Apt. 9 in Hyde Park, confessed to committing the robbery at the Norwood News Convenient Store after being arrested on an active warrant issued out of Suffolk Superior Court in Boston for an armed robbery and an additional charge of Heroin possession.

On Friday, Dec. 14, Norwood Police went to 36 Walpole St. acting on an anonymous tip that a male subject staying in one of the apartments had an outstanding warrant.

"Once inside Officer David Eysie and Detective Sergeant Robert Rinn met with the occupants," the police statement reads. "Two of the occupants were arrested when they were observed to be in the possession of heroin. The police officers had interrupted the two as they were about to inject the heroin."

Arrested along with Johnson was 33-year-old Alexandria Vega of 342 Blue Ledge Dr., Roslindale. Johnson was arrested on the outstanding warrant and Possession of the Class A (Heroin). Vega was arrested for Possession of Class A (Heroin). Both were arraigned at Dedham District Court.

During the investigation, police said, Johnson received the additional charge of armed robbery when he confessed to robbing the Norwood Center shop at knife-point last Thursday, Dec. 13.
