Three Norwood Doctors Named to 'Top Doctors' List

Boston Magazine's annual Top Doctors list includes three Norwood Hospital doctors.

Boston Magazine believes that the way to identify the best physicians is by asking other doctors. Every year, the magazine looks to doctors locally and across the country to identify the physicians they regard most highly – to whom they would refer their patients and family members.

This year, three Norwood Hospital physicians are on the prestigious Boston Magazine 2011 Top Doctor list.

The Norwood Hospital physicians are obstetrician/gynecologist John Al-Jamal, MD, of Dedham, who practices in Walpole, and pediatrician Jonathan Caine, MD, of Westwood, and internal medicine specialist Savitha Gowda, MD, of Westwood.  Both Dr. Caine and Dr. Gowda have offices in Norwood. Eight additional physicians from Steward Health Care made the list this year.

Boston Magazine’s list of 650 Top Doctors is based on a survey conducted by Castle Connolly Medical Ltd. of New York City, which publishes an annual guide to the nation’s top medical specialists.  Castle Connolly seeks nominations to the Top Doctors list from thousands of randomly selected private practice physicians and physicians in medical leadership positions at major medical centers, regional medical centers, specialty hospitals and teaching hospitals.  Nominated physicians must be judged outstanding for their education, professional experience and interpersonal skills.

“Our medical staff is highly trained, skilled and committed to providing world-class care to our community,’ said John J. Holiver, Norwood Hospital president.  “We are thrilled that these physicians are being recognized as top doctors by Boston Magazine.”
