Visions for Vacancies: Decathlon

What business would you like to see take over the old Decathlon building on Rte. 1?

Drive around Norwood and you'll notice far too many empty storefronts and buildings.

This week, we're continuing our "Visions for Vacancies" series where we showcase an empty storefront in town and ask you what should take up the space.

So today we ask you, what should go in at the large empty building on Boston-Providence Highway that used to be Decathlon?

Decathlon USA announced closure of all its operations in September of 2006. Four Massachusetts locations - Bellingham, Burlington, Hanover and Norwood - were all shuttered in the months after the announcement.

What do you think should go in the location? Another sporting warehouse? A department store? A Target or Walmart? Tell us in comments!

Any chance in the town buying the land, bulldozing it to the ground, and setting up a community garden? I think it would be a great opportunity to bith educate and bring the community closer together- plus growing my own veggies would be fantastic. Just a thought...

Kelly, Have you contacted Together, Yes to see about getting a plot at the new Endean Community Garden? There is a plan to expand it next year.

I would love to see a Roller Skate Rink (not ice skate)
Since Roll-Land left I have heard a lot of people around town say they wish
someone would open another one around town.
If it was to be a store i would say Market Basket or Target.

ICE HOCKEY RINK INSTEAD OF PUTTING IT IN SOUTH NORWOOD AT THE COAKLEY. WE ALREADY HAVE A COMMUNITY GARDEN WHICH IS ON CONSERVATION LAND IN SOUTH NORWOOD.
