Drive around Norwood and you'll notice far too many empty storefronts and buildings.
This week, we're continuing our "Visions for Vacancies" series where we showcase an empty storefront in town and ask you what should take up the space.
This week, we ask you what should go in at the empty storefront on Lenox Ave. that used to be Rugged Bear?
The Norwood-based Rugged Bear Co. filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in January of 2011. Many stores, including Norwood's location, closed later that year. Rugged Bear specialized in outerwear and clothing for infants, girls and boys, among other children’s accessories.
What do you think should go in the location? Another clothing store? A restaurant or fast-food joint? Tell us in comments!

The Lenox Street plaza is a prime location for a foot-traffic retailer that benefits the immediate neighborhood, as well as the est of Norwood. The long-term businesses seem to be locally owned and locally run, versus franchises that pop in and out at amazing rates. Think Perks versus Brighams or Friendly's. Think Babels versus Ace Hardware. Think Brenner's Children Store versus Rugged Bear. Let's encourage and support local ownership and local management.

We do not need another restaurant in Norwood. We have plenty. I would think a little cafe or bakery would be nice. A card or gift store would be nice, similar to the Paper Store at Legacy Place.
