Weekend Planner: Norwood Day Festivities, Live Music and More

A look at the weekend ahead for Sept. 14-16.

 

1. Norwood Day

Where/When: Norwood Town Center; Saturday, Sept. 15, 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Why Go: The annual Norwood celebration will kick off with fireworks at the Coakley School (free) on Friday night at 8 p.m. Saturday morning will be the parade through the center of town and then a day of food, games, rides and local vendors.

2. The Lenny Solomon Band in Concert

Where/When: Paradise Cafe, 565 High Street, Dedham. Friday, September 14 at 8:00 p.m.

Why Go: Lenny Solomon's style has been compared to early Bob Dylan, Guy Clark, and Jerry Jeff Walker. Solomon began his career in the late 1960s

Price: Free

3. Blue Hills Brewery Tours

Where/When: Blue Hills Brewery, Canton; Friday, 3:30-6:30 p.m. and Saturday 2-6 p.m.

Why Go: Blue Hills Brewery makes great tasting beers inspired by the elements and nature around; embracing the rich history of the Blue Hills and the South Shore. Stop by the brewery for a complimentary tour and tasting, held every weekend.

4. Warrant at Showcase Live

Where/When: Showcase Live at Patriot Place; Saturday, Sept. 15, 6 p.m.

Why Go: Warrant is an American rock band formed in 1984. The Hollywood based band rose through the ranks of the local and regional club scene to the level of multiplatinum selling, chart topping (both on radio and MTV) success. Popular songs include “Heaven,” “Down Boys,” “Sometimes She Cries,” “I Saw Red,” “Cherry Pie” and “Uncle Tom's Cabin.”

5. Trivia Tyme at T.G.I. Friday's

Where/When: T.G.I. Friday's, 1345 Boston-Providence Highway, Norwood; Sunday, Aug. 19, 8 p.m.

Why Go: Check out Trivia Tyme at T.G.I. Friday's each and every Sunday night at 8 p.m. hosted by DJ Nick. Prizes to the top teams and extra points for best team name.
