Where Should A Crosswalk Be Added in Norwood?

Recently, Norwood Patch asked you where in Norwood drivers ignore stop signs most. Of several responses, Hill St. and Railroad Ave. seemed to be a popular answer, as well as the four-way stop by Lenox St. and the train station.

Now, we would like to ask readers: Where should a crosswalk be added in Norwood?

I would like to see a crosswalk at the bottom of the hill on Washington St, to cross from the steps leading up to Chapel St. over to Lenox St.
However, a bigger issue with crosswalks is their proper use, by drivers and pedestrians alike. As a very frequent pedestrian I use crosswalks many times a day, especially in South Norwood and often I have to wait for several drivers to pass before one actually stops. BUT also as a driver I find it frustrating the number of pedestrians who feel they should cross the road wherever they like, regardless of the fact that there is a crosswalk 6 feet away!!!

I agree with Tracey's post. In a lot of ways, 'we' can't manage the crosswalks we already have. Legally the responsibility to stop lies with the driver, but it's really a shared responsibility. Drivers and pedestrians need to be aware and have a clue about what they're doing. Maybe we should require drivers to park their cars occasionally & attempt to cross Wash. & Railroad Ave. or show pedestrians the do's and don'ts. Maybe more police tickets & citations would send a signal thru the wallet to the brain ? Bottom line- I'd vote for user education or enforcement before I added any more crosswalks. Thanks !
