Dunkin’ Donuts Customers Raise $467K for One Fund Boston

Through customer donations, and a company donation, Dunkin' Donuts has donated more than $667K to One Fund Boston.

Dunkin' Donuts customers across New England donated more than $467,000 to the One Fund Boston. While getting their cup of joe or donuts, customers deposited money at registers at more than 2,000 Dunkin' Donuts franchises in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, New York and Maine, according to the Dunkin' Donuts' website. "I am so grateful to our franchisees, employees and guests who came together to support The One Fund Boston," wrote Nigel Travis, CEO of Dunkin' Donuts. "In addition, Dunkin’ Brands and The Dunkin’ Donuts & Baskin-Robbins Community Foundation together donated an additional $200,000 to the The One Fund Boston." Your Next Car: What's It Going to Be?

I'm hoping to drive my old beater into the ground before we need to get another car, but I'm on the lookout. What's your next car going to be?

My wife and I drive a perfectly good 2002 Nissan Sentra with 127,318 miles on it. "Stella" has four wheels and gets us from Point A to Point B. We've reached the stage in the life of the car where we don't repair body damage (as you can tell from the accompanying photo). I'm ashamed for my Dad to see it. But hey, it's paid for. Even though I'd love to get 200K miles out of Stella, she has some mechanical problems, like a seized bolt that has left the transmission fluid unchangeable for about eight years. She could conk out any old day. So we've been on the lookout for our next car. I'm paying attention to car commercials, asking friends about their cars. You know the feeling. We're looking for something that gets good gas mileage, and is …

Norwood Realtor Says More Buyers Than Homes For Sale a Good Thing

Norwood realtor Patty McNulty said she is optimistic the trend will continue.

Norwood realtor Patty McNulty, owner and broker of McNulty Realtors said she is seeing a current trend in the real estate market that she feels is good news. According to McNulty, the market is flush with buyers to the point where there are not enough houses for sale in Norwood to meet the demand. As a result, many homes are receiving multiple bidders. “We are finding that inventory is not on the market for long and there’s usually multiple bidders on it,” McNulty said. “There’s been a trend lately of over-asking offers and we haven’t had that in a number of years.” “I think it’s a good thing. I think it shows that the economy is bouncing back. I think that the level of buyer is much more capable so it will avoid the problem that we had …

Norwood Small Business Q&A: Olivadi

Olivadi will be opening their outdoor patio this week and will be coming out with a new spring menu in June.

We spoke with Olivadi General Manager Peter McDonough recently about what the must-have dishes are at the restaurant. Olivadi on Guild Street in Norwood is open for lunch and dinner and features a separate bar menu. They recently changed their drink menu and will be putting out a spring menu at the beginning of June. Their patio is opening this week as well. How long has the restaurant been in business and what makes Olivadi successful? “It will be five years this October so we opened in October 2008,” McDonough said. “Word of mouth, you know, people who tell their friends, family members and so forth come back and we’re always having people who are bringing new people in and that’s what works for us.” What is something that people may …
