Fall Recycling Day Set For Saturday

The Fall Recycling Day will be held Saturday, Sept. 28, from 8-11 a.m. at the composting facility off of Winter Street. Proof of residency is required, which can be a compost facility permit, driver's license or utility bill. There will be no leaf or brush or bulk disposal. Please stay in your car as volunteers and staff will unload the car. If you are interested in volunteering, call the health department at 781-762-1240.

Lucy the R.E.A.D. will be at the Morrill Public Library, Saturday at 10 a.m. Lucy is a trained companion dog who loves to listen to children to read to her. She will also be visiting Oct. 25 and Nov. 23.

The Dedham Institution for Savings Foundation is donating $1,800 to Morrill Memorial Library to fund the First Steps program which provides reading material and information to parents of Norwood newborns.

John Al-Jamal, MD, FACOG, a board certified obstetrician and gynecologist at Norwood Hospital, recently earned certification in the subspecialty of Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery (FPM-RS) from the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the American Board of Urology. Dr. Al-Jamal joins only a small group of physicians across the nation to be certified in FPM-RS, which treats women with pelvic floor disorders. Dr. Al-Jamal sees patients in his offices at 886 Washington St. Suite 2 (RAMA Center) in Norwood and at 15 Payson Road in Foxboro and welcomes new patients.

The American Red Cross of Massachusetts is now able to deliver disaster information faster than ever before. Thanks to an agreement with Mass 2-1-1, the public can easily access disaster instructions by dialing 2-1-1. Mass 2-1-1 is an easy to remember telephone number that connects callers to information about critical health and human services available in their community. It serves as a resource for finding government benefits and services, nonprofit organizations, support groups, volunteer opportunities, donation programs, and other local resources.
