Monday Essentials: Norwood Schools to Present Discussion of Social Media, Cyberbullying

The Norwood schools and Norwood Bank will be presenting a free presentation of “Social Media and Cyberbullying” Tuesday, Oct. 15, at 6:30 p.m. in the Norwood High Auditorium. Dr. Elizabeth Englander from the program MARC(Massachusetts Aggression Reduction Center) Bridgewater State University will lead the presentation and discussion around the most recent research on our children/teen's issues pertaining to bullying/cyberbullying through their social media (computers,phones, iPads etc.).

Norwood Recreation Department Closed
The Norwood Recreation Department is cancelled Monday. 

No School Thursday in Norwood
There will be a professional development day in the Norwood schools, Thursday, Oct. 17, so there will be no school for the students.

Craft Affair at Norwood High
The Craft Affair at Norwood will be held Saturday, Oct. 19, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Norwood High School. Tickets are $3 for general admission and $2 for seniors and kids under 13. Proceeds benefit the Post Prom Party and other clubs and teams at Norwood High.

Aillinger to Perform with Uncommon Threate Troup 
Norwood's Laura Ailinger is member of the Uncommon Theatre Company's Improve Soup, their improvisational comedy troupe. The group is made up of teenagers from all over Southeastern Massachusetts. The Soupians perform a fun and interactive show for the whole family one Friday a month at 7:30 p.m.. at the Burrell School Auditorium, 16 Morse St. in Foxboro. Tickets to a night of fabulous improvisational comedy cost a mere three bucks for students and seniors and five bucks for adults.The dates for the 2013-14 Season of Shows are: Oct. 18, Nov. 15, Dec. 20, Jan. 11, Feb. 7, March 14, April 11, May 16, and June 13. All classes will be held at St. Marks Church, 116 South St, Foxboro, MA with a show being held at the South Foxboro Community Club, 382 South St, Foxboro.. Please direct any questions to Chris at (508)698-3939 or check out the website at www.improvsoup..org

Next Meeting of Norwood Retired Men's Club
The November meeting of the Norwood Retired Men’s Club will be a breakfast meeting starting at 8:30 am Tuesday, Nov. 12, in the Norwood Elks. You must have a ticket and be a paid up NRMC member. For tickets call Joe Cattafe at 781-762-4995. Cost is $3. November, being Veteran’s Day month, Norwood Veteran’s Agent Ted Mulvehill will be the speaker and will bring everyone up to date on the latest things happening for veterans.
