Norwood Early School Dismissal Wednesday

There will be early school dismissal in the Norwood schools Wednesday, Dec. 4, for professional development and high school curriculum development days. Elementary schools will have a half day, while the high school will be dismissed at 1 p.m.

National Alliance for the Mentally Ill to Meet
The National Alliance for the Mentally Ill--South Norfolk affiliate  will
hold its monthly meeting at the Neponset River House located at 595 Pleasant St., Norwood, Thursday, Dec. 5, at 7 p.m. There will be hearing a report by Peter Angelos, the site director for the department of mental health, on the current status of services for its clients in this area. Mental illness is a label for a variety of diseases of the brain. Often it strikes in late adolescence, devastating the afflicted person and the family. The Alliance is composed of such families who find mutual support and join together to advocate for their loved ones. Norwood Retired Men's Club to Meet Dec. 10
The Norwood Retired Men's Club  will be holding their December meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 10, in the Norwood Elks at 10 a.m. Michelle Ellicks, from the Mass Department of Transportation, will be the guest speaker. She will be speaking about the problems elderly drivers may have. They will also start taking names and selling tickets for their 11th annual Valentine dinner. It will be held at the Apollo this year and will be open to the general public as well. The price will be $30 per person. You will have a choice of scrod or prime rib. It will be at noon on Tuesday, Feb. 11. Tables of 10 can be reserved in advance.
