Steward Health Care Unveils Health Stations and Walking Paths in Three Terminals at Logan Airport

BOSTON, MA, November 27, 2013 – Today, Steward Health Care System (Steward) announced a yearlong sponsorship of an innovative health and wellness initiative at Logan Airport, which will include designated walking paths and health stations for passengers in Terminals A, B and C.

“While you are waiting for your flight, why not put that extra time to good use?” said Dr. Juliet Nimako, MD, primary care physician at Steward Health Care. “Experts agree that as little as 30 minutes of brisk walking several days a week can have a positive impact on your health.”

In all three domestic terminals at Logan Airport, passengers can pick up a “Strides for Health” map and walk between health stations and burn calories while they wait for their flight. Just 30 minutes of walking can help: reduce your risk of coronary artery disease; improve your blood pressure and blood sugar levels, maintain body weight and lower risk of obesity; reduce the risk of osteoporosis, breast cancer, colon cancer and type 2 diabetes; as well as enhance your mental well-being.

Steward Health Care is also sponsoring four health stations, which enable passengers to monitor blood pressure, test BMI (Body Mass Index) and evaluate their health in other ways. Passengers can find these health stations in Terminals A, B and C.

Steward will be sponsoring “Strides for Health” at Logan Airport until October, 2014.
