What's Coming Up at Norwood Recreation Department?

The following events are coming up at the Norwood Recreation Department:

Friday, Jan. 10: Parents Night Out, grades 1-5: Games and crafts with a pizza dinner and beverage provided, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., $10 per child.

Saturday, Jan. 11: American Girl Doll Create and Play Theme: Top Chief, ages 5-10. You will be able to turn your American Girl Doll into a chef and creatively design a stove top, chef hat, pots and doll play food. It will be 9 a.m. to noon. The cost is $45 for residents and $55 for non-residents.

Friday, Jan. 24: Laser Tag Night. This is for grades 5-7 and you must register in advance online or in person. It will be from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The cost is $12.

Friday, Feb. 7: Fourth Annual Father-Daughter Dance. Calling all dads, uncles and grandmas and more, bring your special one for a magical evening from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. The cost is $10 a couple (adult and child) and $5 for an additional person.

Upcoming programs:

Bay State Archery: Archers, ages 8 and up, progress in the various achievement levels to reach the goal of Gold Olympian. No prior experience is required and all equipment will be be provided. The program will be held at Bay State Archery, Thursdays, from 4-5:30 p.m. It is $110 for residents and $120 for non-residents. The next session is Jan. 9 to Feb. 6.

Architect and Engineers for Grades 2-5: Kids will select designs to build bridges and soaring skyscrapers. The class is six weeks in length and instructed by the Wicked Cool for Science staff. The program will run Tuesdays from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The classes begin the week of Jan. 28.

The Norwood Recreation Department is partnering with F.A.S.T. Athletics for the following programs.

PK Soccer: The soccer program will teach the fundamentals of dribbling, trapping, shooting and passing by teaching in a non-traditional and energetic way. The students will learn rules and positions and have the opportunity to scrimmage each other. The class is for ages 4-6 and is five weeks in length, beginning on Friday, Jan. 24. It runs from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and is $65 per person. There is a minimum of eight and a maximum of 15 in the class.

Dodgeball: Safety rules and regulations will be enforced before each class. Class are five weeks in length and begin Friday, Jan. 24 for grades 2-5 from 4:45 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. The cost is $65 per person. There is a minimum of eight and a maximum of 40.
