Adam & Eve 'Adult Boutique' Now Open in Norwood

The newest addition to Norwood's business scene may surprise local residents.

The newest addition to Norwood's business scene might come as a surprise to local residents.

"It's not what most people think it is," store manager Angelina Wakester said.

Adam & Eve Superstore opened Saturday, Dec. 1 on Route 1 in the building that used to be Jackson Ski and Sport. Wakester described the shop as an "adult boutique" and compared it to a Frederick's of Hollywood or Victoria's Secret - stocking a large selection of lingerie, as well as adult toys and other items.

The store is very couple-oriented and woman-friendly, she said, in comparison to other "adult shops" that people might think of.

"A lot of them sell sex," Wakester said. "We sell romance."

This is the store's second area location; the first, in Seekonk, has been open for almost five years. Wakester said that already the Norwood location has been just as busy as the Seekonk store.

According to the Adam & Eve website, "Adam & Eve retail stores provide an upscale, comfortable, safe, friendly environment for women, men and couples to explore romance and erotica. By offering only the highest quality products, we maintain the integrity that our customers have come to expect over the years."

Wakester said the Norwood store currently has a lot of holiday items, and in the spring will feature a bridal collection. The store's grand opening will be Feb. 9, just before Valentine's Day - which she said is like Christmas for them.

Adam & Eve is now open seven days a week at 1570 Boston-Providence Highway.
