Friendly's in Norwood Holds "First Scoop" Celebration

The following is adapted from a Friendly's press release:

Last Thursday, Friendly’s on Providence Highway unveiled a completely refreshed appearance and updated menu to the public with a "First Scoop" celebration.

The restaurant, which originally opened its doors in 1980, is one of the first locations to take part in the company’s ongoing initiative to reposition the brand and bring it back to its roots by recreating the iconic Friendly’s dining and ice cream experience.

The event included the one-hour distribution of free sundae cups to the general public in attendance.

Friendly’s CEO John Maguire, Josh Kraft, President and CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston, and Restaurant General Manager Anna Stavrou, along with Norwood Selectmen Paul Bishop and Allan Howard, celebrated the restaurant’s re-launch by serving guests the location’s first official scoop of ice cream. They are featured in the photo above.

Children also received free creations from an onsite balloon artist and face painter.

Friendly’s will continue the celebration through Wednesday, September 11, by offering $1 Happy Ending sundaes to guests.

Friendly’s will also be donating $1 from every ice cream dessert sold through September 4th to the Boys and Girls Club of Boston.
