Norwood Business Spotlight: Sky Spa

Sky Spa recently opened at 451 Walpole Street in Norwood. Sky is a beauty and nail lounge priding itself on exceptional service, cleanliness and technique.

Sky is much more than just a contemporary place to be beautiful and pampered, it is a destination for everything you need to look and feel rejuvenated. 

Patch met with owner Swan Thang to talk about what Sky has to offer their customers.

Patch: What makes Sky different from a typical Salon or Nail Spa?

ST: We are different in our product line and to the way our technicians are trained. During treatment or after treatment we always make sure you are 110% satisfied before you leave. Our prestige products are to protect and treat your nails from any harmful damage. With our professional trained Technicians you will never feel discomfort or unwelcome. All Technicians are trained to be adequate in working and not gossiping unprofessionally. All of Sky's staff must use English as their primary language when any client is present, so please don't feel hesitant to ask us with any question about our products or let us know how we can improve in our business.

Patch: What do you specialize in at Sky?

ST: We specialize in nail care including but not limited to, manicure and pedicure, Shellac gel, facial, and hair removal. For any Sky's manicure or pedicure we not only do as a service, we make it an experience. Besides how your nails look but how your hands and feet feel is very important. Sky will slowly begin to educate clients into natural nail care and phase into all natural nail care.

Patch: How did you achieve the Best Facial of 2012?

ST: We are very proud to be certified by Glo Professionals Skin Care Line. Glo is perfect for sensitive skin and acne treatment. We not only advertised about the product but we have treated so many different skin types with the Glo product line. Glo works effectively and is very different in that you'll notice the difference right after the treatment. Most of our client always have a "WOW" factor after the treatment ends because it is that good.

Patch: What's about your special Waxing Service?

ST: Sky's waxes are made with essential oil and aromatherapy blends giving you the opportunity to create an experience during a wax treatment. Sky's wax is best for sensitive skin either with "strip or strip less wax". Sky specializes in strip less wax best for Brazilian wax, it creates less pain and no irritation or burning sensation after wax.

Patch: What is the difference between your pedicure and someone elses?

ST: We are best known for our pipeless whirlpool Corian pedicures. All pipeless jets are cleaned after each client. Traditional pedicures chairs use piped jets for the whirlpool effect, making it impossible to clean the pipes, thus housing bacteria and fungus inside.

Patch: How do you disinfect tools?
ST: Many salons use Barbicide, UV Light "sterillizer" boxes, or other chemical solutions to disinfect their tools, which is legal and standard, but not totally effective at killing all bacteria and infections. But at Sky we disinfect by an autoclave, a machine used to sterilize equipment and supplies using high pressure and steam which kills 100% of all infective organisms.
