Shop Locally in Norwood on Small Business Saturday

Small Business Saturday is today, Nov. 24. It is a day for everyone to support the small businesses that their community thrives on.

American Express founded the day in 2010 to help small businesses get exposure during the holiday season, when they might be otherwise overlooked. With retailers buzzing around the holidays, it is important to support local small businesses that rely on their neighbors in order to continue prospering and building the local economy in Norwood.

"Small Business Saturday is a great reminder to support the small businesses in your own community," Norwood Downtown Manager Kim Weineck said. "Bigger chain stores may have our constant attention with their larger advertising budgets, but it's up to us as local stakeholders to 'buy close by.' Spending local isn't simply lip service. Local business reinvest up to 73 percent of your purchase locally as opposed to the 34 percent from a major chain."

Last year, 100 million people nationwide participated in Small Business Saturday by shopping at locally owned stores to help boost the economy and their communities.

Gallery 2 on the second floor of the Norwood Commerce Center on Endicott St. will be open for the entire Black Friday Weekend with 10 percent off the entire store.
