Fatal Car Accident on I95 Leaves One Driver Dead, No Injuries to the Other

There was a two-car accident on 95 south that left one of the drivers dead.

On Monday around 4:34 a.m., Norwood Fire received a call about a two car accident on Route 95 southbound, north of exit 11A.  The accident left one dead with no other injuries.

According to State Police, it was determined that a 2008 Lexus sedan had made contact with a 2013 Chevy Silverado. The Lexus then hit the median strip and landed against the bridge abutment.

"The operator of the Lexus was ejected and declared deceased on scene," police said.  "The operator of the Chevy truck was not injured and not expected to be facing charges."

Fire crews from Norwood, Sharon and Canton assisted in looking for people who may have been injured due to the accident.

"After performing a secondary visual search and a State Police K-9 sweep of the area it was determined that no other persons were involved in the accident," George Morrice, Norwood Police spokesman said.

Route 95 was shut down for the morning as the State Police Accident Reconstruction Team worked.

At this time the facts and circumstances of the crash are still under investigation by State Police.
