Police Arrest Four for Drug-Related Offenses

On Friday, Jan. 4, a Norwood Police Anti-Crime investigation led to the arrests of four suspects for drug-related offenses.

Officers were conducting surveillance on a local apartment complex, when they observed a 27-year-old male known to them as Kevin Cunningham, of Norwood, stop by an apartment there, enter then exit quickly, then leave the area. Cunningham was driving a vehicle, and in addition to be an unlicensed driver he has a history of drug activity which plainclothes officers felt his quick visit was consistent with.

House Break-in on Cedar Street

On Monday, Police received a 911 call around 1 p.m. about a breaking and entering incident on Cedar Street.

"The resident was home at the time and startled the intruder who then fled the scene," Lt. Nedder, Jr. said.

Two-Alarm Fire Causes Severe Damage to Stoughton Home Monday Night

A two-alarm fire caused severe damage to a single family home in Stoughton Monday night.

The Stoughton Fire Department responded to a report of a bedroom fire at 19 Churchill Ave. at 6:24 p.m. Jan. 7. The fire started in a first floor bedroom in the front of the home and spread to both levels.

There was extensive damage to the home, but there were no injuries to any of the home’s occupants or first responders on scene.

Sen. Joyce Requests Ban on Skin Shock Devices at Canton's JRC

Sen. Brian Joyce (D-Milton) this week requested the agency ban of painful skin shock devices as part of a testimony submitted to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).  

Joyce, who represents Canton and Sharon , requested the ban of all Graduated Electronic Decelerators (GED) specifically for use at the Judge Rotenberg Center (JRC) in Canton.  The FDA is expected to conduct a hearing with JRC representatives concerning the use of GED 3A and 4 devices, which are currently used to administer painful electric shocks to disabled children at the Canton facility without FDA approval.
