Peter Malick is coming "home" to Boston for a few select shows this summer. Peter started his blues journey just after he graduated high school at which time he moved in with Muddy Waters piano player, Otis Spann. Malick played guitar behind Spann until he passed. Malick played on and released a recording of Spann's last show in Boston, Live at the Tea Party, Last Call. http://www.allmusic.com/album/last-call-live-at-boston-tea-party-april-2-1970-mw0000106046

Recently I was visiting with David Maxwell and he recounted that he and Peter Malick had backed John Lee Hooker on the Dick Cavett Show in 1974. His youthful talent as a guitarist led to stints backing up such blues legends as John Lee Hooker, Otis Spann, Big Mama Thornton, and Muddy Waters. After serving as guitarist and musical director for the national touring company of the Broadway musical Hair in the early 1970s, he joined the James Montgomery Band and appeared on two of the group's albums, First Time Out (1973) and High Roller(1974). More recently, Malick has produced scores of meaningful artists including Norah Jones. Malick proved to be Jone's guitarist of choice on a number of her releases.

The show at The Carty's House Concert Series is part of:
Luxury Wafers Goes East, the label’s launch tour featuring Spencer Livingston, Courtney Jones, Peter Malick and Lucinda Williams drummer Butch Norton, begins in Hew Hampshire on July 20, 2013. Confirmed dates include Boston, MA, Portland, ME, and New York City, continuing west to Los Angeles. Booking on both coasts continues through the summer.

Opening the show will be Ron Levy's Wild Kingdom featuring Jeffrey Lockhart on guitar. The resumes and credits for RLWK is long and impressive. Ron backed Albert King as a teenager. Lev also spent many years on keys for the B.B. King Orchestra. While with B.B. King Levy happened to play at The Rumble in the Jungle before Ali's victory over George Foreman, recorded on Live at Cook County Jail and most recently B.B. told Ron that he was the best musician he had ever played with! I was there when B said it so it ain't no b.s.! Jeffery Lockhart is the hippest prof teaching guitar at Berklee. He's played with everyone from Beyonce to Soulive and Lettuce. http://www.jeffreylockhart.com/
