Jake Flickner, Army Veteran, Dies at 38

A wake will be held Saturday.

Jacob R. “Jake” Flickner, 38, of Mifflin, Pennsylvania , passed away in Gainsville, Florida, January 6.

Born in Stoughton on August 1, 1975, Jake was the beloved son of Ruth Ann (Burns) Wright and her husband, William Wright of Mifflin, Pennsylvania and John Flickner of Canada, and was the grandson of the late Thomas and Eleanor Burns of Norwood. He was the dear brother of Devin Flickner of Colarado, John Flickner of Virginia, Jennifer Wright and her husband, Guillermo Gori of Oregon, and Lucas Wright of Mifflin. Jake was also the nephew of Thomas Burns and his wife the late Judith of Leominster, Kathleen Burns and her husband, Paul Mercure of Milford, Roberta Nemeskal and her husband, the  late Francis of Newburyport, Maryellen Riley and her husband, William of Norwood, and Eleanor Spear of Clarendon, Vermont.

He is also survived by many cousins. Jacob served in the Army and was deployed abroad in Kosovo. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 12th, at 8:30 AM at the Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole St., Norwood, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM, at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 547 Washington St., Norwood. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery, Norwood.
