Malachy F. Kelliher, 84, of Norwood, Saturday, Dec. 8, at Norwood Hospital.

Born, June 4, 1928, and educated in Killarney, Ireland, he was the son of the late Timothy and Bridget (Moynihan) Kelliher. Malachy emigrated to the U.S. in 1948 and served in the Army as a Staff Sargent in Korea, where he earned a Bronze Star. He was a fire fighter with the town of Norwood and was also an owner and operator of Kelliher Brothers Painting Company. He was an active parishioner of St. Catherine of Siena Church, and an active member of the Norwood Knights of Columbus, the American Legion and the Disabled American Veteran's Association. He was also very active in the Norwood Senior Center and tended and cared for "Malachy's Garden" there.

Malachy was the beloved husband of Dorothy (Sweetsir), the loving father of Timothy Kelliher and his wife Patricia of Plymouth, James Kelliher and his wife Carol, Debora and her husband Jeffery Clarke, all of Norwood, and Malachy Kelliher of North Attleboro, the cherished grandfather of Katelyn, Martin, Maeghan, Stacey and Brian Kelliher, Jeffrey, Daniel, Michael and Mellisa Clarke, and Jennifer and Malachy Kelliher III, the devoted brother of Timothy and Michael Kelliher of Norwood, Theresa O'Connor of Kerry, Ireland and the late Daniel, Andrew, Patrick and Francis Kelliher, Catherine O'Connor, Nora Kirby and Mary Agnes O'Sullivan and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 15, at 9 a.m. from the Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole St., (Rt. 1A) Norwood, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 547 Washington St., Norwood. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery, Norwood. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, Dec. 14, from 4-8 p.m.
