Joseph Thomas DiMarzio, 80, of Norwood, Mass., passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 12, 2013.
Joe was a blessing to all he knew through his love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, and self-control. He was born on September 11, 1932. He was the son of the late James V. and Eva (LaMarche) DiMarzio. He was one of 11 children.
Joe was raised in Readville, Mass. He married his sweetheart, Marie Merlino in 1951. Joe trained as a carpenter and he built his first home in Mattapan, Mass. where he and his wife resided. He also worked as a barber, and had a lengthy and successful career in kitchen sales and design.
He is survived by his beloved wife Marie (Merlino) DiMarzio. He was the loving father of Jean Kaye and her husband Barry, Thomas DiMarzio and his wife Anne, Joan DeSantis and her husband Paul, Nancy DiMarzio and her husband Robert Allott and Mary Donaruma and her husband Mark. He was the brother of Sylvia Connaughton and Pauline McKee. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and many relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, 5 brothers and 3 sisters.
A Mass of Christian burial will take place Friday, 5/17 at 10am in St. Timothy's Church, 650 Nichols St. Norwood. Visting hours at the May Funeral Home, 85 Nichols St. Norwood from 4-8 pm. Donations in his memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
