Norwood Obituary: Richard Peter Smith

Richard Peter Smith, 73, died in the Norwood Hospital in Norwood, Massachusetts on Sunday, Feb. 17.

Born in Norwood on Dec. 28, 1939, he was the son of the late John V. and Mary (Preibus) Smith. He graduated from Norwood High School with the class of 1957 and went on to attend Northeastern University. He has been a resident of Walpole, Massachusetts since 1963 moving from Norwood.

He worked for Norwood Engineering as a land surveyor for 50 years.

Mr. Smith was a member of the Norwood Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks (BPOE) in Norwood and was an usher at the Blessed Sacrament Church in Walpole.

He was an avid Boston sports fan.

Beloved husband of Sheila A. (O'Neil) Smith. Loving father of Monica Smith of West Roxbury and Christopher Smith of Woburn. Brother of Frederick Smith of CO, John Smith of FL, Sandra Bacon of Mansfield, Joseph Smith of Foxboro, David Smith of Roslindale, and Thomas Smith of Foxboro.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated at Blessed Sacrament Church East Street (Route 27) at Diamond Street Walpole on Thursday, February 21, 2013 at 11:30 AM. Visiting hours are Wednesday, February 20, 2013 from 4-7 PM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home 48 Common Street Walpole. Interment will be in Saint Francis Cemetery in Walpole.
