The following are local obituaries for Norwood.

Brenda Mary Pilkons Bates, Taught Art at Adult Education of Norwood

Brenda Mary (Pilkons) Bates of Norwood, 91, died on Oct. 6, 2013.. She was the beloved wife of the late Peter P. Bates, devoted mother of Elisabeth R. Bent and her husband Norman and Peter P. Bates and his wife Cora.
She was also the cherished grandmother of Andrea, Alexander, and Suzy. Sister of the late Walter Pilkons and Veronica Bunevich. Daughter of the late Sevier and Anna (Krukonis) Pilkons.
Brenda graduated from the Mass. College of Art. She was very involved with the art community. Member of the Canton and Norwood Art Assoc.
She also taught art for the Adult Education of Norwood for many years. A funeral home service will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013, at 1 p.m. at the Kraw-Kornack Funeral Home, 1248 Washington St., NORWOOD, MA 02062. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 11am-1pm. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery, Norwood. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Northeast Animal Shelter, 347 Highland Ave., Salem, MA 01970-1738.
David J. LaSilva, Former Norwood Resident

David J. LaSalvia, 48, of South Walpole, formerly of Norwood, Oct. 5, 2013. Her was the beloved husband of Kerry A. (Smolinsky) LaSalvia, loving father of Jessica M. LaSalvia of Norwood, Danielle N. LaSalvia of Norwood, and David L. LaSalvia of South Walpole, brother of Joseph Mello of Norwood, Stephen LaSalvia of Norwood, Geraldine Folan of Norwood, Philomena Cotton of Norwood, and the late Nancy LaSalvia.
He is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Davids Life Celebration on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. and Friday from 9-9:30 a.m. in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common St., Walpole. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Blessed Sacrament Church, 10 Diamond St., Walpole on Friday at 10 a.m..
Interment will be in Saint Francis Cemetery in Walpole. James H. Delaney & Son A Life Celebration® Home.
