Dr. Lawrence L. 'Doc" Brown Jr, 80, of Walpole, formerly a longtime resident and pediatrician of Norwood died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014.
Born, Aug. 21, 1933, and raised in Dedham, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Katherine (McKenna) Brown.
He served in the US Navy, was the past president of Norwood Hospital, a longtime member of the Norwood Elks, and a charter member of the Walpole Country Club and proud member of its B Minus group.
"Doc" was the beloved husband of the late, Jean (Lee) Brown, the loving father of Brian Brown and his wife, Donna of Walpole, Nancy and her husband, David Hiltz of Medfield, Lawrence Brown, III and his wife, Celeste of Las Vegas, NV, Kevin Brown and his wife, Lorena, Stephen Brown and his wife, Susan, all of Franklin, Michael Brown and his wife, Susan of Norwood, Trisha Brown of Walpole, and Christopher Brown and his wife, Nicole of Plainville; the dear brother of Joanne Brown, James Brown and his wife, Mary, Kathy Griffin, and Carol Brown. He was also the cherished grandfather of 17 grandchildren and the uncle of several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, Jan/ 27, at 9 a.m. from the Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole St., (Rt. 1A) Norwood, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Timothy Church, 650 Nichols St., Norwood. Interment will follow at Brookdale Cemetery in Dedham. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, Jan. 26, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
