Obituary: Jeryl 'Jerry' V. Drummey, a World War II Aviation Historian

Jeryl “Jerry” V. Drummey, 72 of Norwood, died suddenly, Saturday, Dec. 21. 

Born in Boston, on Aug. 8, 1941, he was the son of the late James and Marjorie (Maloney) Drummey, the beloved husband of Kathleen (Stahle) Drummey and the loving father of Anne Drummey, both of Norwood, the dear brother of the late James and Roger Drummey; and the cherished caretaker of the family cats, Miss Marple, Miss Sadie and Miss Jasmine.  

Jerry was a dedicated parishioner at St. Timothy’s in Norwood. He was a Scotch Whisky connoisseur, a WWII aviation historian and a collector. He especially valued his knife and Disney collections.   

Born with hemophilia and at age 11 confined to a wheelchair because of joint damage, Jerry was a member of a pilgrimage group which made annual visits to the Basilica of Ste. Anne de Beaupre, Quebec.

He was an active member of the Aides of Ste. Anne. He and Kathy were married at the Basilica in 1970. He journeyed to the shrine for more than 50 years and had a lifelong devotion to St. Anne.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 27, at St. Timothy Church, 650 Nichols St.,Norwood.  Interment will be private.  Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday, in the church gathering space prior to the Mass.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jerry’s memory to the service fund at St. Timothy Church, 650 Nichols St.NorwoodMA 02062.
