Obituary: Pauline M. Grasso, Norwood Town Meeting Member, on Airport Commission

Pauline M. Grasso (Sansone) of Norwood, 86, died at home after a long battle with cancer on Sept. 4, 2013 with her loving family by her side. She was the daughter of the lateAnna (Solari) and Paul Sansone of E. Walpole. Pauline was born in Norwood on January 30, 1927.She graduated from Walpole High School in 1944 and, on Oct. 27, 1946, married the late Rocco Grasso and moved to Norwood.
 She leaves behind four loving children: Rocco and his wife Kathleen of Mansfield, MA; Paul and his wife Diane of Fallbrook, CA; Frank and his wife Dorene of Westport, CT; and Jeanne and her husband Edmund Kelly of Attleboro. Sadly, Pauline leaves Edward Lopez of Norwood, her companion, friend, and confidant who for many years was always at her side, willing tohelp in any way he could.
“Gramma” leaves nine grandchildren: Gail, Chris, Lisa, Dana, Drew, and Ally Grasso; Joe and Sarah Harris; and Nicole and her husband Claudio Grassi. She also leaves four great grandchildren: Nicholas, Tristan, Darian and Hayley. She is survived by her four siblings: Fran Sansone and his wife Cathy of Walpole; Robert Sansone of Walpole; Marie and her husband Donald Moore ofNewmarket, N.H.; and Anne and her husband Michael Obert of Walpole. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Pauline was known as a dedicated town advocate working countless
hours on the Norwood Airport Commission for 15 years and as a town meeting member for 12 years.
As a young mother, Pauline volunteered on the Callahan School Parent-Teacher Association executive board and the Norwood High School Parent's Music Association. In her later years, she volunteered at Hesco Elder Services Money Management Program and the Norwood Senior Center Volunteer Program.
In her spare time, she loved gardening and keeping her lawn beautifully manicured. One of her greatest pleasures was ballroom and square dancing, which she enjoyed right into her last months.
A funeral was held at Kraw Kornack Funeral Saturday, followed a funeral mass at St. Siena Church in Norwood. Burial was at the Highland Cemetery in Norwood.
