Norwood, MA – AltWheels Fleet Day, an informative day for Fleet Managers, returns to the Four Points by Sheraton in Norwood, MA on Monday, October 7.  Fleet Day consists of 28 speakers, 3 panels, 31 exhibits, and over 20 vehicles offering a showcase of alternative transportation solutions – from concept vehicles to vehicles that are available and affordable today.

AltWheels Fleet Day has become known as a leading way for fleet managers to get useful and practical information on how to reduce costs and improve the performance of their fleets.

Many guest speakers including AltWheels Founder and Chairman, Alison Sander, and Stephen B. Russell, Director, Massachusetts Clean Cities Coalition, will address progress in alternative transportation in New England and beyond over the past decade.

“The line-up of speakers at this year’s AltWheels Fleet Day brings a wealth of knowledge based on experience, that is sure to be of value to all fleet managers,” said Russell. “Anyone who attends is sure to come away with practical information that they can put to use to help save costs managing their fleets.”

Fleet Day also showcases a large outdoor vehicle display and ride and drive opportunities.  This year will highlight how far we’ve come with technology by showcasing a Stanley model 735M chassis made in 1922.  The body was built by J. Donald Gibson ca 1950.  It is not efficient, the engine is basically an 1841 design and Stanley advertised it as such.  A modern, say 1915, engine would more than double the efficiency!  Some of the vehicles showcasing new and green technology that will be showcased this year include:

·         CNG-powered Honda Civic GX

·         Ford Roush F-250 Propane Pickup

·         24’ Smith Newton Electric Box truck, powered by 100% electricity

·         CNG Bi-Fuel Silverado

·         2014 Chevrolet Silverado (static)

·         Peterbilt 12 liter ( L) spark ignited tractor, 350 HP engine with a 6 speed Allison 3000 series automatic transmission

·         11,200 gallon Applied Cryo Technologies ( ACT ) MC-338 cargo tank that transports LNG to refueling facilities

·         Freightliner Truck

·         Honda Civic Natural Gas

·         Toyota Advanced Fuel Cell Hybrid Vehicle

·         Ford E-250 CNG Cargo Van with Landi Renzo CNG Fuel System

·         Chevy Express 2500 Cargo Van with XL Hybrids Electric Powertrain, conversion by Leggett & Platt

·         Ford E-350 Elkhart Coach Shuttle Bus with Lightning Hybrids Hydraulic Hybrid System, conversion by National Fleet Hybrids of Attleboro, MA

·         Massport’s 40' CNG Bus

·         Bi-fuel Ford E-250 capable of operating on gasoline or propane

·         GMC 3500 Savana Cut away with 17' Box and Solar Power Systems installed

·         Hybrid-Powered Sewer Line Inspection Truck

Panel topics include:

·         Emerging technologies - hear the latest plans from OEMs to save fuel

·         Innovations beyond Fleet Management:

·         Alternative fuels - Why use them: it has been 10 years, have we made progress?

The breakout sessions offered include:

·         Propane as an Autogas

·         Hydrogen Technology

·         Electric Vehicles

“Fleet managers who attend this year’s AltWheels Fleet Day will gain valuable information on how they can improve the efficiency of their fleets, reducing costs and emissions at the same time.  Hearing first-hand from those who’ve implemented successful programs is a rare opportunity that can be of invaluable help to anyone facing the challenges of managing a fleet in an era of volatile energy prices,” said Sander.
