Striar Hebrew Academy Receives AISNE Accreditation

After two years of self-examination and reflection among professional staff and its board of directors, Striar Hebrew Academy is now officially accredited by the Association of Independent Schools in New England (AISNE), a nationally recognized accreditation program.  Striar Hebrew Academy joins several other Jewish day schools in the Boston area and many private independent schools throughout New England with this accreditation status.

According to the team of independent school professionals who visited Striar Hebrew Academy during the evaluation process, “Striar should be commended for its ability to infuse its mission into every aspect of the school!…The program not only promotes individual growth and academic excellence, as stated in the educational philosophy, but also teaches about caring for other people and for the Earth in disciplines as disparate as science and Language Arts.”

For 28 years, Striar Hebrew Academy has been a central part of the South-area Jewish community. Whether it’s delving deeply into scientific method preparing for our annual science fair, learning to read a second language fluently by the end of 1st grade, or developing a Biodome, Striar Hebrew Academy connects Jewish values and learning with general studies academics and social awareness to develop well-rounded students, who are also responsible and engaged members of the broader community.

The AISNE visiting team added that, “SHAS creates an exemplary experience for student leaders, fostering responsibility, caring and genuine leadership.”

“I am proud of our faculty, staff and board for carefully reflecting on everything we do at Striar Hebrew Academy,” says Rabbi Yehudah Potok, Head of School. “This positive recognition of our commitment to student learning and to our mission as a school energizes us as we look forward to continued growth!”
