Crash Shuts Down Rte. 95 Southbound in Norwood

Multiple ambulances and helicopters requested to the scene.

Rte. 95 Southbound in Norwood is still closed following a motor vehicle crash just as rush hour began Friday night. The highway was shutdown at Neponset Street. 

The highway was closed following the crash to land MedFlight and a second helicopter as well as multiple ambulances were also requested. 

Massachusetts State Police say three vehicles were involved in the accident. 

Initial reports indicated passengers were trapped in vehicles. State Police said some of the injuries are life threatening. 

CBS Boston is reporting skid marks are visible from the left lane on the northbound side of the highway, through all three lanes, across the median to where the crash happened on the southbound side of the highway. 

As of 5:15 p.m. the breakdown lane opened to allow some traffic flow but the rest of the southbound side of the highway is blocked. 

Traffic impacts from the accident are being felt in surrounding communities by motorists trying to get past the accident. 

Canton Police say the area of Rte. 138, Royall Street and Washington Street are at a standstill and they are asking drivers to avoid the area.
