Norwood Police arrested three parties on Monday for conspiracy to violate drug law - including a Dorchester man with five previous drug-related convictions.
Patricia Crawford, 42, of 48 Berwick Street, Norwood; Lisa Jenks, 44, of 11 Hoyle Street, Norwood; and Jamil Bowden, 38, of 60 Downer Avenue #2, Dorchester were all charged with conspiracy to violate drug law. Bowden was also charged with operating a motor vehicle after revocation, second and subsequent offense.
According to a statement from Norwood Police, Officer David Eysie was conducting drug investigations in areas known to be high in drug sales.
"On Monday, he [Eysie] observed Crawford and Jenks standing outside a business in a shopping plaza on Walpole Street. The two were behaving in a manner consistent with one that would be looking to meet another for the purpose of purchasing drugs," the statement reads. "Eysie watched as the two got into a car and move locations attempting to get a better view of the entire parking lot."Let Patch save you time. During the surveillance, officers observed a vehicle operated by a Bowden drive by and park beside the car occupied by Crawford and Jenks. Crawford exited the first car and got into the car with Bowden.
"Detective Sergeant Robert Rinn, assisting Officer Eysie approached the vehicle and observed the transaction of money and drugs," the police statement said. "When Detective Sergeant Rinn attempted to interrupt the sale, Bowden ingested the drugs prior to the car door being forced open. The drugs observed prior to being ingested were crack cocaine. All three were arrested and transported to Norwood Police Headquarters for booking."
After the arrest, Norwood Police learned through a Board of Probation check that Bowden also has three guilty findings for possession of class B drug, one guilty finding for possession of class A drug, one guilty finding for possession with intent to distribute a class B drug and several guilty findings for armed robberies and possession of handguns.
All three defendants were arraigned at Dedham District Court.
