Norwood Police arrested a Foxborough man early Thursday morning for larceny and drug possession after a citizen allegedly saw him take items out of a neighboring house.
Lawrence Parnell, 38, of Foxborough, was charged with Larceny from a Building, Entering a Dwelling without Breaking to Commit a Felony, and Possession of a Class B Substance, Cocaine.
According to the NPD, at 4:06 a.m. on Oct. 18, the department received a 911 call from an alert neighbor reporting a prowler on the property of 4 Railroad Ave. - where the house is currently under construction.
"The caller reported a male in black clothing was walking on the property," a police statement said. "Further, it was reported that the man had taken a ladder from the open garage and placed it into the bed of a pick-up truck parked on the property."
Officers Michael O’Brien and Andrew Jurewich were dispatched to investigate, and Officer Jaime Mazzola, who was patrolling nearby, also responded and was the first to arrive at the scene.
The truck was found on scene with the keys in the ignition. Parnell was found a short time later nearby. After being questioned, he was placed under arrest and the truck searched - this is when police found that Parnell was in possession of a prescription bottle bearing his name, but containing Cocaine.
"In addition to the ladder, numerous other items which belonged on the construction site were recovered in the bed of the pick-up truck," police said. "Parnell was arraigned at Dedham District Court and is being held at the Norfolk County House of Correction in Dedham. Parnell has a lengthy criminal record. He has been designated a Level Three Sex Offender by the Sex Offender Registry Board."
