Man Accused of Dragging Woman Under Car to Death to be Arraigned Friday

A Norwood man accused of dragging a woman under his car down Rte. 1 last fall is set to be arraigned in Norfolk Superior Court on Friday, according to the office of Norfolk County District Attorney Michael Morrissey. 

Moses Acloque, 22, of Norwood, was arrested in November on accusations that he struck Kanchanben Patel, 58, of Wrentham in the parking lot of the Arbor Inn in Wrentham, and then dragging her several miles up Rte. 1 toward Foxborough before she became free from the vehicle. Patel did not survive her injuries. 

Acloque pleaded not guilty to the charges in November and was placed on $3,000 bail, but was forced to wear a GPS monitoring bracelet and ordered to not have contact with any witnesses or employees of the motel. 

Acloque will be arraigned at 2 p.m. Friday on an indictment of leaving the scene of an accident causing death issued by a Norfolk County Grand Jury on Jan. 22, in addition to 11 other indictments issued by the Grand Jury on Thursday, March 6. 

As a result of the investigation, the Norfolk County Grand Jury indicted Acloque on the following charges:

• Obstruction of justice
• Larceny of property valued at $250
• Motor vehicle homicide due to negligent operation
• Three counts of breaking and entering with intent to commit a misdemeanor
• Larceny of property valued under $250
• Use without authority of a motor vehicle
• Two counts of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license
• Leaving the scene of a personal injury collision
