Norwood Mobil Robbed at Gunpoint Early Monday

A suspect with a silver semi-automatic handgun reportedly demanded money from an employee at the Mobil Mart on Washington St. before fleeing the scene.

The following is taken from a report by the Norwood Police Department:

Between 3 and 4 a.m. Monday the Norwood Police Communication Center received a telephone call from an alarm company reporting a panic alarm at 499 Washington Street - which is the Mobil Mart.

Officer James Mahoney was first on scene and spoke with an employee who stated the store had been robbed at gunpoint. It is reported that the suspect came into the store and demanded cash from the cash register. Once the suspect received the cash from the employee he fled on foot in an unknown direction.

The suspect was described as a black male, 150-180 pounds, between 5’8 and 6 feet tall. Suspect was seen wearing a brown hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, a baseball cap, black sneakers with a white stripe and gloves. He wore a red bandana over his face to conceal his identity. The suspect was holding a silver semi-automatic handgun.

Norwood Police searched the area with the assistance of a Massachusetts State Police K-9 unit and were unable to locate the suspect. Anyone with any information is encouraged to contact Norwood Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation at 781-440-5198 or use our anonymous tip line at 781-440-5181.
