Norwood Police Log: Assault, Breaking and Entering and Drug Arrests

Friday, Dec. 28

10:22 a.m. - Caller reported money taken from pocketbook by Norwood Hospital staff. Police filed a report.

10:37 a.m. - Caller reported vandalism to creche at the Morse House. Officer responded, not vandalism, gust of wind from the other night. Creche to be dismantled.

2:02 p.m. - Caller reported breaking and entering to a motor vehicle at Pier One Imports on Route 1, GPS unit stolen.

10:05 p.m. - Caller reported a motor vehicle accident at Boston-Providence Highway and Dean Street. Two vehicles towed from the scene, police filed a report.

Saturday, Dec. 29

3:30 a.m. - Female caller on Hampden Dr. reported she was assaulted. Male called to report girlfriend broke a window at the house. As a result, responding officers arrested Brian F. Ariel, of Norwood, for assault and battery and assault with a dangerous weapon.

2:14 p.m. - Caller at Lost Brook Golf Club on University Ave. reported lawn damage. Police filed a report.

6:49 p.m. - Security at TJ Maxx called to report two shoplifters in the store.

Sunday, Dec. 30

3:19 a.m. - Walk-in to the department reported theft of a purse from a vehicle on Spruce Road. Police filed a report.

5:10 p.m. - Caller on Cedar Street reported someone spit in her face. Officers responded, filed a report.

Monday, Dec. 31

9:33 a.m. - Vehicle hit 1A Pizza building on Walpole Street. NFD responded, reported very minor damage and the building owner will be contacted.

9:29 p.m. - Caller on Village Road East reported someone shot her slider door with a BB. Police filed a report.

11:29 p.m. - Caller reported 30-40 kids gathering in the street at Blossom Street. Responding officers report under-age party. Parents were called to pick up their children. Complaint application filed.

Tuesday, Jan. 1

12:05 a.m. - Call received from a child stating her parents, and brother and girlfriend are fighting. Officers responded. As a result, NFD and Animal Control also responded. Police returned with John J. Brennan, of Norwood, under arrest for assault and battery and resisting arrest. Two females transported to hospital in protective custody. Dog was removed by Animal Control.

12:21 a.m. - Caller on Dean Street reported his sister was punched in the face by a party that fled. Officers responded. NFD transported female to hospital. Complaint application filed.

10:14 a.m. - Caller on Endicott Street reported vehicle window damaged by BB. Two boys about 12-13 in the area. Officers checked the area with negative results. Police filed a report.

3:45 p.m. - Caller on Alandale Parkway reported back window appears to have been hit by BB. Police filed a report.
