Norwood Police Log: Stolen Laundry, Inert Grenade Found

Thursday, Jan. 24

7:30 a.m. - Caller on Meadow Street stated she noticed a dirty maroon colored Ford Explorer idling in front of her neighbor's home with two possibly Hispanic males. As she pulled out of driveway they left. She noticed them down by Juniper Drive. Caller requested that the area be checked. Officers checked the area, no such vehicle found.

10:50 a.m. - Caller reported a motor vehicle on Walpole Street. Norwood Fire responded, one vehicle towed from the scene. Police filed a report.

1:37 p.m. - Walk-in to the department stated that his vehicle was struck in the Shaws plaza on Nahatan Street. Police filed a report.

9:03 p.m. - Caller reported laundry was stolen from Super Wash on Central Street. Officer reviewed footage of theft. BOLO broadcast to cars for a white female in her 30's with gray coat and blue jeans.

Friday, Jan. 25

10:16 a.m. - Caller reported larceny of a phone at U.T.I. on Upland Road. Police filed a report.

10:33 a.m. - Anti-Crime Unit reported suspicious activity in the area of Fulton Street. Homeowner responded, detectives on scene.

2:18 p.m. - Caller reported items stolen while car was serviced at Clay Chevrolet on Boston-Providence Highway. Police filed a report.

Saturday, Jan. 26

10:01 a.m. - Caller reported a motor vehicle accident at E. Cross and Neponset streets. Norwood Fire responded, one vehicle towed from the scene. Police filed a report.

7:20 p.m. - Caller reported vehicle into a tree on Nahatan Street, male trying to flee. Officers responded, one vehicle towed from the scene. Police filed a report.

Sunday, Jan. 27

12:41 p.m. - Caller at Convenient Food Mart on Washington Street reported shoplifter chased down and being detained awaiting police. Officer reports mis-understanding, report filed.

5:03 p.m. - Caller reported that she found a grenade while cleaning out her apartment on Walpole Street. Officers responded, Norwood Fire notified. State PD Bomb Squad responds. State PD removed item.
