Police Arrest Two for Allegedly Dealing Crack Cocaine

Norwood Police and the NORPAC Task Force concluded a month-long investigation on Tuesday afternoon.

The following information is from a press release from the Norwood Police Department:

On Tuesday, Nov. 20, Norwood detectives completed a month-long investigation led by Officer David Eysie, who along with other Norwood detectives and members of the Norfolk County Police Anti-Crime (NORPAC) Task Force arrested Angel Rosa, 34, from Somerville and George J. McAuley, 64, of Norwood on multiple drug charges.

Both men were booked at Norwood Police Headquarters and will be arraigned at the Dedham District Court. McAuley was charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Crack Cocaine and Conspiracy to Violate the Controlled Substance Act, as well as being issued a civil citation for Marijuana possession. McAuley was also charged with Unlawful Possession of Prescription Medication when police found Dilaudid (Class B) and Diazepam (Class C) in his bedroom without a proper prescription.

Rosa, an illegal alien from Guatemala, gave a false name at the time of his arrest. Rosa’s true identity was discovered when his fingerprints were electronically transmitted to the Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) maintained by the Massachusetts State Police, and the results revealed that his fingerprints were on file with the name Angel Rosa. At booking Rosa had given police the alias of Juan Sanchez. Rosa was charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Crack Cocaine (second offense) and Conspiracy to Violate the Controlled Substance Act. Rosa was convicted in 2008 out of Norfolk Superior Court for Cocaine Distribution and he served a two year sentence. Rosa was also charged with Furnishing a False Name to Police and Possessing Fraudulent Registry Documents.

During this investigation, detectives confirmed that Rosa was driving to Norwood every week, to McAuley’s Adams St. elderly housing apartment, and that the two men were making crack cocaine and packaging it for sale. Rosa supplied McAuley with the drugs who then sold it locally to buyers. Upon the execution of a search warrant obtained by Norwood Police Department, 16 bags of crack cocaine were recovered, valued at approximately $720, along with a scale, drug packaging and $725 cash in drug proceeds.
