Police Investigation Turns Up Over 100 Lbs. of Marijuana

NORPAC Detectives seized over 100 pounds of Marijuana with a street value of $300,000 from an apartment in Norwood on Friday.

Detectives from several local police departments, including Norwood, arrested a Brockton man on Friday after he allegedly delivered over 30 pounds of Marijuana to an apartment in Norwood.

Calvin J. Lorelike Jr., 61, of Brockton, was arrested for possession with intent to distribute Marijuana and was scheduled to be arraigned in Dedham District Court today.

A Norwood Police statement said that detectives from the Norfolk County Police Anti-Crime (NORPAC) Detectives Unit had learned in the course of an investigation that Marijuana was being shipped to addresses in Norwood and West Roxbury. On Friday, NORPAC detectives from Dedham, Needham, Norwood, Wellesley, and Walpole monitored the delivery of three boxes each containing approximately 10 pounds of marijuana to an apartment in Norwood.

Lorelike directed the delivery to a vacant apartment where he secured them to be picked up at a later time, police said. He was arrested as he exited the apartment building.

"Following Lorelike’s arrest, detectives obtained a search warrant for the apartment where the Marijuana was delivered," the police statement said. "The apartment had no furniture and nothing beyond the 30 pounds was found. Detectives seized additional boxes of Marijuana that were in transit. In all, over 100 pounds of Marijuana with a street value of $300,000 was seized. Lorelike is charged with possession of roughly 1/3 of that intercepted. The case remains under investigation."
