Heroin Dealer Attacked Norwood Cop, Police Say

Yevgeniy Fartushnyy was arrested Tuesday.

A local man attacked a Norwood cop during a drug bust Tuesday, according to police.

Yevgeniy Fartushnyy, 28, of Sharon was charged assault on a police officer, heroin possession with intent to distribute, and resisting arrest.

Police said Norwood police Det. David Eysie and Sharon police Det. Scott Leonard were conducting surveillance in Norwood when they saw a group of "known heroin addicts" gathering in a parking lot. The pair saw Fartushnyy take money from them and give it to two men in exchange for heroin, according to police. Eysie and Leonard then moved in.

"Fartushnyy resisted the being taken into custody and assaulted them during the encounter," Norwood police said in a statement. "His resistance was overcome and he was handcuffed."

The two other men—Hansel Pena, 20, of Dorchester and James Rubio, 38, also of Dorchester—were charged with cocaine possession with intent to distribute and heroin distribution.

Police said they seized 10 grams of heroin, 6 grams of cocaine, and $1,000.
