UPDATE: Three-Car Accident on Rte. 1 Caused by Failure to Stop at Light

A three car accident at Dean Street and Boston-Providence Highway around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday was caused by a vehicle's failure to stop for a red light.

According to Norwood Police, the accident was caused when a vehicle traveling on Rte. 1 failed to stop for a red light and struck a car driving through the intersection. The collision caused the second vehicle to strike a third car.

The operator in the first car that failed to stop for the light was cited. There did not appear to be any serious injuries.

Norwood Patch has received reports of a three car accident at Dean Street and Boston-Providence Highway around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Reports indicate there was entrapment of one victim, and that emergency crews used the jaws of life to extricate them. Two patients were transported from the scene to Norwood Hospital.
