Norwood Police arrested three shoplifters Wednesday afternoon for stealing baby formula from Hannaford's Supermarket.
According to police, the suspects stole multiple cans of Enfamil Baby Formula Power from the market on Walpole Street. Many more cans of baby formula, believed to be stolen from an area CVS, were found in the suspects' car and seized by the police.
Two women and one man were arrested.
"Lately, there has been a rash of similar thefts (large quantities of Enfamil Baby Formula) in area supermarkets and pharmacies," a police statement said. "We are confident that thieves in these cases, stealing large amounts of Baby Formula, are not doing this to feed an infant. Rather, the formula is sold for pennies on the dollar to an unscrupulous merchant who will resell the product at its regular retail price."
